Head of Distributed Generation Projects


As Head of Distributed Generation Projects at New Fortress Energy, Sam Abdalla is responsible for leading the origination and development of projects in liquefied natural gas to support the market development growth objectives of New Fortress Energy in the territories in which it operates. 

Sam has a wealth of experience and expertise in LNG business, utility-scale energy efficiency, combined heat and power, power generation and central utility plant projects. Since joining New Fortress Energy in 2016, he has spearheaded several high-level projects, including working alongside Managing Director  – Chief Development Officer, Brannen McElmurray, to manage the build out of NFE’s 145-MW LNG terminal in Montego Bay – the first infrastructure development for NFE that marked the company’s  entry into Jamaica. Throughout his career, Sam has successfully completed over twenty-five major power projects in fifteen countries, which includes the development of the world’s largest IPP combine cycle plant in Saudi Arabia to Cheniere Corpus Christie Liquefaction plant power island.

Sam holds an MBA from London Business School and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Power Engineer from Cairo University.
