Ernest Jacob is Director of Operations at BL Energy International and the Chief Operations Officer at IBD Energy LLC, the Puerto Rico subsidiary of IBD Energy (Oman), the firm selected for financing, engineering, procurement, construction and operation of the nations first utility scale, Renewable Microgrid at Roosevelt Roads. 

Ernest led the successful bid process and has been instrumental in the negotiations towards the Microgrid Management Agreement, shorty to be signed with the Local Redevelopment Authority for Roosevelt Roads.

With an appetite for constant learning and innovation, Ernest’s approach to todays Energy Sectors’ challenges are simple; remain open to change and innovation, be strategic and forward thinking, whilst always staying true to his 27 years of  experience within industry.

These beliefs have aided the vision required in todays global uncertainties and have allowed Ernest and IBD Energy’s wider team to move ahead with the proposed Microgrid, initially consisting of a 100MW Solar PV farm, 5MW Thermal back-up generation and 2MW of Battery Storage, which together create a renewable, resilient and reliable solution.

Ernest has a MSc in International Project Management from Caledonian University, Glasgow and a BSc Degree in Electrical Engineering from Southbank University in London. His greatest asset by far is his spirited and welcoming Glaswegian personality, that has helped him successfully setup project teams and new businesses with an overriding focus on mentoring the indigenous workforce, wherever he has worked in the world.
