Raphaella Gomes

Raphaella Gomes is CEO Raízen Geo Biogás S.A. and leads a team that develops energy solutions and renewable products to support companies and the society in their journeys towards decarbonization and energy transition. Raízen Geo Biogás produces and distributes renewable power and natural gas from agricultural and industrial waste.

In addition to her role, she is a Board Member of ABBI (Brazilian Bio Innovation Association) and ABiogas (Brazilian Biogas Association).

In her previous position as Energy Transition Director, Mrs. Gomes was responsible for developing and managing Raízen’s renewable energy portfolio, including the company’s thermal power generation (1 GW of installed capacity), biogas and cellulosic ethanol businesses.

Having a background in law, she started her career at Shell in Brazil, leading for several years Raízen’s Legal Corporate practice. Her team was awarded by the prestigious International Law Office as Best M&A team in Latin America.

As an energy transition enthusiast, Raphaella is moved by a desire to help build a global renewable energy matrix, which led to her a nomination by Forbes Brazil in 2021 as one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Agriculture.
