Patrick Maio is founder and CEO of HINICIO, a global strategy consulting boutique specialised in hydrogen and energy transition. With +20 years of experience in the field, Patrick brings a wide expertise in energy transition and sustainable mobility, with a specific focus on hydrogen. Patrick has a solid experience at successfully leading international projects teams, and capacity to analyse and formulate strategic recommendations to C-Level executives. Before starting up Hinicio, Patrick worked for 6 years in the management consulting practice of Ernst & Young in Europe. Between 2003 and 2006, Patrick set up and led the European Hydrogen and Fuel cells Technology Platform, a public-private partnership financed by the European Commission. Between 2007 and 2009 he was the executive director of the World Fuel Cell Council. Aside from his activities with Hinicio, Patrick holds several non-executive director positions in clean energy ventures in Europe and Latin America. Under his leadership, Hinicio set up offices in Brussels (HQ), Paris (2009), Bogota (2015), Buenos Aires (2017), Beijing (2018) and Santiago de Chile (2020). Patrick holds a master’s degree in mechatronics engineering from Ecole Centrale d’Electronique de Paris, France, and a MBA from Solvay Business School in Brussels. He is also a Harvard Business School executive graduate in “Leading Professional Services firms”.
