Janina Franco

Senior Energy Specialist


Janina Franco is a Senior Energy Specialist at the World Bank with work experience in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) as well as in Europe and Central Asia (ECA). Janina has worked in 16 countries in LAC and ECA and is currently the focal point for energy projects in Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru. She has led the preparation and implementation of various loan and technical assistance projects at the World Bank, including regulatory reforms, the use of disruptive technologies for decarbonizing economies, energy efficiency and heating projects, and rural electrification. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked at The Earth Institute as a Research Associate for the Millennium Cities Initiative. Janina holds two master’s degrees in International Affairs and Urban Planning from Columbia University. She is an architect from the University of Chile and has postgraduate studies in public-private partnerships and electricity sector regulation.
