Physicist from the University of São Paulo and PhD in Geosciences from WM Rice University/USA. He is a senior researcher at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), working in the field of Energy Meteorology, and head of the Laboratory for Modeling and Studies of Renewable Energy Resources (LABREN). He coordinates several R&D projects in the multidisciplinary areas of energy transition and mitigation of the effects of climate change. He is also a professor in the postgraduate program in Earth System Sciences at INPE, having supervised dozens of master’s and doctoral students. He has published more than 150 scientific articles and books, including the two editions of the Brazilian Atlas for Solar Energy.
