Jackson Grimes

Project InnerSpace
Project Manager

Jackson Marshall Grimes began his career in geothermal at the Iceland School of Energy at Reykjavik University, where his studies focused on Geothermal Policy and Social Governance. Upon returning to his home in Texas, he began working for the Bureau of Economic Geology, which functions as the State Geological Survey of Texas, investigating ways in which geothermal development can impact disadvantaged communities, methods for engagement, workforce development, and the associated economics. Jackson still holds a part-time research position with the Bureau but his primary role is with Project InnerSpace. Project InnerSapce is a 501(c)3 non-profit laser focused on accelerating geothermal deployment worldwide. Working across every continent to help build the geothermal sector, Project InnerSpace is unique in that they engage heavily with the Oil and Gas sector to illuminate them on the opportunity that geothermal presents.

Beyond his work with Project InnerSpace, Jackson works for the Texas Geothermal Energy Alliance the industry-lead trade association for geothermal in Texas, and UNESCO IGCP-636 Geothermal Resources for Energy Transition Project, whose mission is to increase knowledge and understanding of deep geothermal reservoirs, conduct outreach activities with focus groups and communities, and promote the installation of geothermal heat pumps. He is a firm believer that community-driven direct-use geothermal projects are a critical first step towards wider societal acceptance of next generation geothermal technologies.
