Mr. Wakely Daniel was an Educator for 21 years. During this period he taught at the Elementary, High and Tertiary Levels. He also served as President of the Nevis Teachers Union from 2002 to 2006. He was made School Principal in 2004 until he left the profession in 2008. From 2008 to 2013 Mr Daniel was Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Communication and Works. In 2013, he became Principal Assistant Secretary in the Premier’s Ministry and later that year he was promoted to Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Ministry. In 2015, he held the dual position of Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Ministry and Permanent Secretary in Education until 2017. Presently, he is Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Ministry with responsibilities for energy on the island of Nevis. Mr. Wakley Daniel is also the author of the book, “In Pursuit of Sovereignty,” a historical documentation of Nevis’ quest for independence.
