Alejandro Pérez is a Senior Investment Officer with more than 20 years of experience in infrastructure financing with the World Bank Group, much of that time with the group’s private arm – the International Finance Corporation (IFC). During his career, he has worked on infrastructure projects including, but not limited to, transportation, energy, and water and wastewater treatment projects. He has participated in projects in emerging markets on several continents based in the IFC offices in Washington DC, Hong Kong, Jakarta and Singapore. Since 2019 he has been working on the new pre-investment initiative (Upstream) with emphasis on the energy sector for the Latin American and Caribbean region. In this role he has been able to venture into innovative topics such as battery storage, green hydrogen, and offshore wind energy, among others. He graduated in electronic engineering from the Simón Bolívar University of Venezuela, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland, USA, and obtained the CFA accreditation as a certified financial analyst.
