Joining the family business almost 20 years ago, though planned originally as a summer internship, today Matthew Lyn is the CEO of the CB Group. Having led the Group’s strategy development, cultural rebirth, market rebrand and regional expansion as the COO for close to 10 years, in January 2021 he was given the honour of leading the company through its next phase of transformation and growth. A strong advocate for social good and a firm believer in businesses being part of the solution, he openly talks about falling in love with agriculture, waking up every morning motivated to make a difference and putting “Sustainability” as the singular point of focus for the forty-year-old company. Constantly challenging the status quo, working to inspire others, and actively looking to collaborate on impact projects, he led the Group’s investments into cleaner energy, water conservation and waste management. On top of that, he partnered with like-minded entrepreneurs to conceptualize and successfully launch several businesses that consider the triple bottom line of economic impact, social good & environmental protection. Most notably, the award-winning Jamaica Food & Drink Co., a culinary entertainment company developed to promote tourism in Kingston, the capital city, through curated food experiences and, We Alter Eco Ltd., an environmental solutions company currently focusing on plant-based disposables and eco-friendly chemicals. As a matter of service, he sits on a number of public and private boards. Today, he isthe current President of the Caribbean Poultry Association (CPA), Co-Chair of Jamaica’s Food Security and Agribusiness Council, a member of the Jamaica Tourist Board’s Linkages Committee and Executive Board Member of the nonprofit, education focused Junior Achievement Jamaica, amongst others. An alumnus of Emory University, an avid West Indies cricket fan, lover of all types of music and a “wantto-be chef”, his pride and joy are his two boys, Lucas & Ben and his wife, Jodi.
