Kristen Smith was appointed to the position of Energy Policy Coordinator (now called Senior Policy Advisor) with the Cayman Islands Government in October 2019. She currently works for the Ministry of Sustainability and Climate Resiliency to support the delivery of mission critical initiatives under the Cayman Islands National Energy Policy, 2017-2037. She is the secretariat for the Energy Policy Council and supports key stakeholders with their initiatives. Ms. Smith holds a Master of Science degree in Spatial Planning from Oxford Brooks University and a Bachelor of Science in Management and Tourism from the University of Surrey in the UK and is a certified town planner and permit technician with the Royal Town Planning Institute and the International Code Council. Prior to joining the Ministry, she served in several capacities during her 12 years at the Cayman Islands Department of Planning including as Senior Manager of Operations.
