Florian holds a MA in International Relations and a PhD in EU Trade Policy, with studies undertaken in Germany, Sweden, and Spain. He began his career in trade and investment promotion, working for a subsidiary of the leading German business associations (DIHK, BDI, BDA, and ZDH). For the past 20 years, he has specialised in EU-Latin America and Caribbean relations, holding roles within the European Commission, including postings in Central America and, since 2022, in Barbados. He is Team Leader for Governance, Digital, Security and Human Development for Regional Programmes Caribbean.
