Dr. Maryam Richards, C.M., is an internationally recognized physician-executive, health system leader, and recipient of the Chaconia Medal (Gold), Trinidad and Tobago’s second-highest national honour, awarded for outstanding national leadership in health and healthcare. With more than 15 years of progressive executive experience, she has led complex, large-scale health systems, overseeing USD $1B+ in national healthcare operations and a workforce of over 17,000 professionals across public and private sectors.

A respected global health diplomat, Maryam was a Vice-Chair of the 75 th World Health Assembly, contributing to global policy and sustainable financing initiatives She has led strategic partnerships with governments and international organizations, including the World Health Organization, Pan American Health Organization, and development banks, securing funding, advancing infrastructure modernization, and strengthening healthcare systems in emerging markets.

In addition to her clinical and public health leadership, Maryam has extensive corporate governance and cross-sector experience, having served on multiple boards across insurance, finance, project management and healthcare organizations. Her ability to operate at the intersection of clinical leadership, public health strategy, and corporate governance uniquely positions her to lead complex, multidisciplinary organizations and drive sustainable, high- impact healthcare transformation globally. Maryam is a graduate of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, where she obtained the MSc. Public Health in Developing Countries degree. She is also the holder of an Executive Master of Business Administration
