Dr. Maryam Abdool–Richards is a highly respected strategist and thought–leader on building purposeful and robust partnerships for international development in Wellbeing, Wellness, and Welfare. In her role as Principal Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health, Trinidad and Tobago, she earned her the country’ssecond highest honour, the Chaconia Medal Gold for demonstrated leadership in Public Health.
Dr. Abdool–Richards serves as an expert advisor on matters of organizational and fiscal transformation to both Public and Private sector boards across the financial services, manufacturing, healthcare and infrastructure sectors, often forging strategic, cross–sectoral alliances to deliver high–value projects.
She currently serves as the Chairman of the National Infrastructure Property Development Company (NIPDEC), a USD 200M project management firm with a diversified portfolio across the healthcare and infrastructure sectors.
Dr. Abdool–Richards is also a Director on the Boards of TATIL, TT’s largest general insurance company, TATIL Life, Angostura Holdings Limited, and the Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA).
A Fellow of the U.S. Department of States International Visitor Leadership Program and Vice Chair of the 75th World Health Assembly, Abdool–Richards has also been recognized by the U.S. Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, for leadership of frontline healthcare workers.
In August 2024, Dr. Abdool–Richards was appointed to the inaugural Health and Wellness panel of the Caribbean Premier League, one of the top five cricket leagues globally with a viewership of over 800 million persons. In 2023, she was the host of Caribbean Medical TV, the region’s only health and healthcare show broadcast across thirty islands, and the tri–state USA.
Dr. Abdool–Richards is an active member of the International Woman’s Forum, the Caribbean Corporate Government Institute, the T&T Energy Chamber, the T&T Manufacturer’s Association, and the American Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
She is also the Deputy Chairman of the Angostura Foundation, and a voluntary Director to the boards of the Heroes Foundation and the Shelter for Battered Women (T&T), two of the region’s leading Civil Society Organizations.
