Eric Bush, Chief Officer of the Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport & Development (PAHITD) in the Cayman Islands, is a dedicated and strategic public servant whose career spans over two decades. Working under the Minister for PAHITD, Mr. Bush leads the Ministry from his capacity as a chief officer in the civil service, ensuring the execution of strategic policies and initiatives that drive the sustainable development and well-being of the Cayman Islands.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Bush has overseen numerous pivotal projects. Leading the “PlanCayman” initiative, he ensures sustainable land use and planning that meets future needs while preserving the natural environment. Under his guidance, the Cayman Islands Nutrition and Food Security Policy has strengthened local food production and secured the islands’ long-term food supply.
Housing is another critical area where Eric has made significant strides. He has spearheaded the 10-year Public and Affordable Housing Policy and Strategic Plan, addressing the urgent need for affordable housing. His leadership in infrastructure projects, through the National Roads Authority, has enhanced connectivity and supported economic growth, while his role as chairperson of the National Road Safety Strategy underscores his commitment to improving road safety standards.
In public transportation, Eric Bush has innovated and expanded options to create a more efficient and sustainable system, reflecting his dedication to the community’s growing needs.

Eric’s career highlights his ability to foster international relations, as demonstrated during his tenure as the Cayman Islands’ Representative to the UK and EU from 2016 to 2019. There, he hosted the Overseas Territories International Trade Summit and established the Commonwealth Climate Growth Fund, initiatives that significantly raised the Cayman Islands’ global profile.
Beyond international diplomacy, Eric has enhanced national security as the Chief Officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs. His early career as a Detective Sergeant in the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service provided a strong foundation in law enforcement and crisis management, enhancing his capability to manage complex challenges.
Eric Bush’s leadership is grounded in a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Lynn University, enriching his strategic and empathetic approach. His various roles within the Cayman Islands Government, including the Ministry of International Trade, Investment, Aviation and Maritime Affairs (ITIAMA) and the Ministry of Investment, Innovation and Social Development (IISD), consistently demonstrate his commitment to empowerment and effective governance.
