Dr. Sara Kelly is an energy officer in the Office of Energy Transformation within the Department of State’s Bureau of Energy Resources. Sara’s work centers on the clean energy transition, with special focuses on hydrogen and corporate renewable energy procurement. Sara entered the State Department through the AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow, bringing expertise in clean energy technologies.

Before joining the Department of State, Sara worked in electric and fuel cell vehicle policy, focusing on heavy-duty trucking in California and across the United States. Sara holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Chemical Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University.
