Trailblazers Havana Energy and Engage Cuba Confirm for CREF

The organizers of the CREF are pleased to announce the participation of Andrew MacDonald, Director of Havana Energy and CEO of Biopower S.A., Havana Energy’s joint venture with the Government of Cuba. Joining Mr. MacDonald on stage to explore investment opportunities in the Cuban energy sector will be Lee Ann Evans, Senior Policy Advisor at Engage Cuba.

In 2012, UK-based Havana Energy entered into a joint venture with the Cuban state-run Zerus SA to build five biomass power plants in Cuba, marking the biggest joint venture between Cuba and a British company in almost half a century. A pilot project at the Ciro Redondo sugar mill is expected to break ground in late 2016.

Engage Cuba is one of the leading advocacy organizations promoting closer trade and business links between the U.S. and Cuba. Ms. Evans was formerly head of political risk assessment for Latin America at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.
