PR-GRID II is conceived to introduce high-quality international investors and vendors to Puerto Rican commercial and industrial entities as part of a unified plan for grid revitalization.

New Energy Events and the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association, PR’s largest industrial association, have joined forces again to host the 2nd Puerto Rico Grid Revitalization & Investment Forum (PR-GRID II).

Puerto Rico’s power sector is in a period of unprecedented upheaval and the landscape has changed considerably since the launch event in May 2018. PR-GRID will serve to provide stakeholders with clear insights into developments since the first event.

Elsewhere, consensus is emerging around the need to provide municipalities and large commercial and industrial entities with access to distributed generation solutions. A critical component of PR-GRID II will be to introduce municipal leaders and leading private sector executives to world-class providers of distributed generation products, services and capital.

PR-GRID Objectives

  • Present a clear picture of the current status of generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure
  • Create a marketplace for Puerto Rican municipal and industrial leaders to explore opportunities for collaboration with international investors and providers of solar, storage, LNG & microgrid products and services
  • Introduce new PREPA leadership to the international market
  • Explore the implications of the privatization of PREPA for the future of the grid, and for investors
  • Get a complete picture of the regulatory environment and the evolving role of PREC
  • Provide insight for international investors, to the extent that it is possible, into the matrix of Puerto Rican and federal agencies and where the decision-making lies
  • Provide Puerto Rican authorities with qualitative insight into the spectrum of services and investors willing and able to engage in Puerto Rico
  • Support institutional planning around procurement and reconstruction
