Mr. Nieves-Miranda is the President of the Strategy Committee of the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association, and Managing Member of Vidal, Nieves & Bauzá, LLC, a corporate law firm representing clients in the energy, insurance, real estate, aerospace, agriculture and manufacturing sectors, among other areas.

Throughout his professional career, Mr. Nieves-Miranda occupied positions in the Environmental Protection Agency as Assistant Regional Counsel, as Chairman (Environmental Commissioner) of the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board (PREQB), worked for and served in boards of non-profit corporations, and as an attorney in two of the major law firms in Puerto Rico. Mr. Nieves-Miranda actively participated in developing the legal framework and the implementation of Act 76-2000 during Governor Fortuño administration; was a member of the Board of the Environmental Council of States (ECOS), where he still participates as an alumnae; Chaired the Puerto Rico Inter-sectorial Committee for Environmental Compliance and Energy Alternatives (CICAAE), composed of government and private sector entities ordered by the Governor of Puerto Rico to evaluate and recommend viable alternatives for Puerto Rico to comply with new air emissions regulations; and implemented the critical steps to substantially complete EQB’s Corrective Action Plan to eliminate its 10-year old federal grantee high-risk designation.

Mr. Nieves-Miranda frequently participates in public and private speaking engagements related to environmental, energy, corporate governance and government matters, and has published articles in professional magazines related to the above topics.

Mr. Nieves-Miranda holds a B.S. with a minor in environmental sciences from the University of Puerto Rico, a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, a Master of Studies in Environmental Law and Public Policy, and an LLM in Energy Law from Vermont Law School.
