OECS encourages Caribbean women in green innovation

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States organised a Business Green Innovation Bootcamp in St. Lucia for thirty female entrepreneurs from the Caribbean.

The aim of the workshop was to hone the skills necessary to develop and launch an environmentally sustainable business, and to engage women and talented innovators in the building of a clean resilient Caribbean.

The Bootcamp and training programme was organised by the Caribbean Climate Innovation Centre (CCIC) in partnership with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), OECS and the St. Lucia Coalition of Service Industry (SLCSI).

The entrepreneurs were working in various fields related to sustainable business, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, and management of renewable energy.

“This opportunity to partner with CCIC on the Caribbean Women in Business Green Innovation Bootcamp”, said Business Development Officer in the OECS Competitive Business Unit, Mr. Kwesi Roberts, “was timely and is a step toward increasing participation of women in this emerging green technology sector”.
