Nicaragua to build 50MW solar PV plant

Nicaragua has announced the construction of a 50MW solar PV plant in the western part of the country.

The project was announced by the state’s electric utility, Enatrel, and the Ministry of Energy and Mining.

This solar energy installation will be the largest in the country.

The Ministry is meeting with investors, and more details are expected to be released soon.

This project is part of a recent wave of solar energy projects in Nicaragua. In February, the Ministry announced large-scale solar projects in different regions of the country would receive priority for investments. One plant is expected to be built on the Caribbean coast of the country, and another five plants of 30MW each will be built on the Western coast. These projects are expected to have all entered into commission by 2027.
