Largest solar plant in the Caribbean starts producing power

An investment in excess of 160 million has resulted in the second largest solar farm in Puerto Rico and the largest of its kind in the Caribbean. Greece-based company METKA-EGN built the facility and will commission and operate it following completion later this year. CEO Andreas Mustad considers this a “landmark moment for Sonnedix”, noting that the company worked “hand-in-hand” with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) contractors to meet its goal and commitment to the people of Puerto Rico. The Initial Synchronization Date, or the energization process, includes monitoring PREPA’s incremental power levels while further acceptance tests are conducted to assure a smooth transition of clean energy to the grid. Sonnedix recently acquired connection of over 100 MW in Italy, Chile and South Africa and announced on August 31st that institutional investors, advised by JPMorgan Asset Management, acquired substantially all of the Sonnedix Group.
