Haiti to build hybrid solar/wind power plant

Earlier this month, Haitian leaders gathered at the construction site of what will be a 160 kW hybrid diesel/wind/solar power plant – a technology first for Haiti. President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by his Special Energy Advisor, Evenson Calixte, and the Member of Parliament for the constituency, went to the commune of Irois (Department of Grand’Anse), on the construction site of the future Electric Power Generation Plant of the zone in early August.

It should be noted that previously a major repair and modernization operation was already carried out on the electrical distribution grid, which was severely damaged by the passage of Hurricane Matthew in October 2016, in anticipation of the commissioning of this new future power plant.
