Mexico Market Briefing: Showcasing the NEW Geothermal Financing & Risk Transfer Program

Mexico government agencies and the IDB will host a pre-GEOLAC market briefing on July 16th which will provide detailed information on the Geothermal Financing and Risk Transfer Program. This major new program is designed to fund and catalyze the development of geothermal projects in Mexico.

The briefing will outline eligibility criteria for participation in the program and is essential for any participants, current or potential, in Mexico’s geothermal market.

GDF/KFW TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FORUM

Join representatives from the Geothermal Development Facility for Latin America (GDF) for a half-day Technical Assistance Forum (TAF).

The Technical Assistance Forum is designed to assist ministries and policy-setting agencies interact with development finance organizations to identify technical assistance gaps and opportunities across the geothermal development spectrum.  While the forum is policy focused, participation is also encouraged from the private sector.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Geothermal Development Facility (GDF) – Funding status, opportunities and lessons learned one year since the launch of the funding program
  • Chile Roundtable: Technical Assistance In Action – Summary of the World Bank-sponsored TA provided for Chilean geothermal roundtables. Results and path forward.
  • Geothermal for Positive Social Impact – Can Technical Assistance help prove that geothermal has significant underappreciated positive social impact vs. other energy options?
  • Technical Assistance 2.0 – A discussion of current geothermal TA programs and how those programs need to evolve in a world of low cost intermittent power.

LOS AZUFRES: SITE VISIT

A guided site visit of the Los Azufres geothermal facility, hosted by Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). With the inauguration in 2015 of the Los Azufres III plant in Michoacan, the Los Azufres geothermal plant increased by 17 percent the total installed capacity of Campo Los Azufres, expanding from 192 megawatts to 225 megawatts and enough to supply 800,000 inhabitants. Please note this is an all-day commitment.
