French private sector shows increased interest in Jamaica’s renewable energy sector

Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, emphasised the growing bilateral relations between France and Jamaica, especially in regards to business and investment opportunities.

This relationship, said the Minister, is supported by “sincere people-to-people cooperation and exchanges, and increased business interest in Jamaica”.

The Minister spoke at ‘A Touch of France’, a commercial and cultural event endorsed by the French embassy. The exhibition included a mix of French local and global businesses. The bi-annual event was attended by local businesses and stakeholders, as well as a delegation of leaders from the French private sector. Areas examined by the visiting delegation included energy.

Don Gittens, Logistics and Infrastructure Manager at Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), said his organisation would continue to support the exhibition event by coordinating business activities, and panel discussions on logistics and renewable energy – key areas of focus for investment in Jamaica.
