First floating solar project in the Caribbean to be built before the end of 2019

Innova Capital Partners will develop and build the first floating solar photovoltaic installation in the Caribbean region, on the Colombian island of Providencia.

The company’s subsidiary Innova Solar Colombia is undertaking this project. It will include the installation of a 74 kWp floating solar PV system. The solar energy installation will supply electricity for a municipal aqueduct, the Fresh Water Bay dam.

Ciel & Terre, leaders in the development of floating solar photovoltaic systems, will lead the technological aspect of this project.

The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth in the Demo Environment provided capital for the project through a financing award.

The project is to enter into commission and full commercial operation before the end of 2019.
