The World Bank Group is pleased to announce the launch of the Central American Energy Efficiency Summit.
Coinciding with Panama’s presidency of the Central American Integration System (SICA), this vital regional forum will gather key energy stakeholders to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, promote private sector engagement and investment, and develop transparent and stable policy frameworks in the region.
While Central American countries have made tremendous progress, they face continued challenges, such as regional dependence on energy sources that are vulnerable to international oil prices and climate change, the fiscal impact of energy subsidies, and an obsolete power infrastructure. The high costs of electricity are also undermining the region’s competitiveness, growth, and sustainability.
Energy efficiency is the fastest and most economical and sustainable solution to address energy security and environmental challenges, and to improve the competitiveness of Central American countries in the energy market.
Against this backdrop the World Bank Group invites you to attend the first and only Central American forum designed to convene senior public and private sector market participants to catalyze the adoption of energy efficiency products, programs and practices region-wide.
