Enel Awarded 93 MW of Wind Capacity in Mexican Renewables Tender

A 93 MW wind farm in Salitrillos will contribute another 400 GWh to the national grid and Enel Mexico has been awarded the right to provide México’s Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) with energy over a 15-year and 20-year period. The Enel group has invested approximately USD$120 million into the plant, which is expected to enter into operation in 2019. It will reduce CO2 emissions by 230,000 tonnes per year. Enel, acting through subsidiary Enel Green Power México, currently operates a total installed capacity of almost 500 MW, of which 446 MW is wind power and 53 MW hydropower. Additional to the Salitrillos project, the Group has two wind farms under construction: 129 MW plant in Palo Alto in the STate of Jalisco, and the 100MW Vientos del Altiplano in the Zacatecas State. Rounding out investments in México are three solar PV projects located in Villanueva, totaling  1 GW of installed capacity.
