Marc Lopata is the President of Solar Island Energy. Solar Island Energy is a solar energy, microgrid, and energy efficiency engineering and construction company with offices in the Bahamas and British Virgin Islands, with its headquarters and engineering office in the states. Marc is a licensed Professional Engineer and has been practicing his trade for more than 20 years. He is the engineer-of-record on over 500 solar projects including a dozen utility-scale solar projects, and 80 microgrid and energy storage projects totaling over 85 MWh of energy storage capacity. He also is a NABCEP-certified Systems Inspector; the only one based in the Caribbean. Marc is a solar-energy technical advisor to the World Bank, and a peer reviewer of hurricane survivability for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. He has been attending CREF for 10 years, and has developed, engineered, or constructed projects from the Bahamas to Grenada, across the US, and as far afield as the Middle East.
