Chief Operating Officer
Viana Gardiner is the Chief Operating Officer of the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit (PMDU) in The Bahamas. The PMDU was established as a centre of government solution to provide cross-governmental functions, including planning, coordination, monitoring and management of the implementation of the Government’s Key Priorities. Among the Key Priorities is Energy Reform. The core of the PMDU is fostering data driven decision making.
Ms. Gardiner is also a Director of the Board of Bahamas Power and Light, which operates generation, transmission and distribution systems throughout The Bahamas. She has approximately twenty years public sector experience, including as the Government’s Director of Trade and Acting Director of Investments. In the private sector, she served as VP (Legal & Business Affairs) of More Development, an international project development company, and VP (Government Affairs) & Assistant General Counsel of Baha Mar Ltd. Ms. Gardiner is a past Director and Executive Committee Member of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation, and Co-Chair of The Bahamas Trade Commission.
Ms. Gardiner is Counsel & Attorney-at-Law, and also holds an M.A. & B.A. in History from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and an M.A. in International Relations from Carleton University, Canada.
