Country Manager, Dominican Republic
Roberto Herrera is the Country Manager in the Dominican Republic of InterEnergy Holdings. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of La Compañía de Electricidad de San Pedro de Macorís a 300 MW CCGT in the Dominican Republic and its operator Basic de la República Dominicana. He is also the Executive Director and Vice president to the Board of the Consorcio Energético Punta Cana-Macao (CEPM). Until late May 2011 he was the Deputy Country Manager in the Dominican Republic of Basic Energy and Vice-President for Administration of EGE HAINA and CEPM. Previously he was Regional Manager for the Americas of Scotia Energy Limited (SEL), a Glasgow, Scotland based international power Development Company. From May 2000 to May 2004 he was a consultant under secondment from SEL to Cogentrix Energy Inc. during their construction, operations and management efforts of their 300 MW CCGT in the DR. While employed at Scotia, he participated in various project identification and evaluations, bid and proposal preparations, submission and subsequent negotiation and implementation of project development.
In 1999, Roberto acted as a consultant representing in the Dominican Republic, the interest of CDC Capital Partners in the development pre and post bid of their interest in the consortium that submitted a winning bid to acquire 50% of the state-owned HAINA thermal power generating assets in the Dominican Republic. His responsibilities during the capitalization of EGE Haina encompassed all aspects of development and set up of the company structure serving as Administrative and Commercial Director. Between January 2000 and 2003, Roberto acted as a consultant to the Caribbean Basin Power Fund and to Basic Energy Limited where he evaluated and carried out due diligence efforts for power projects in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Brazil, Ecuador, Haiti and Mexico.
