CDB-EIB sign $110m financing package to support climate adaptation and mitigation projects in Caribbean

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) have signed an agreement providing USD $110m low-cost financing to support investment projects in the Caribbean under CDB’s climate action policy. Eligible projects include investments in climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency, and infrastructure that reduces greenhouse gas emissions. The agreement was signed on May 24, 2017 at the 47th Annual Meeting of CDB’s Board of Governors. A healthy pipeline of climate action projects amounting to over USD 300 million for this new loan has been developed with support of an EIB-funded technical assistance programme.
