St. Lucia: LED lighting to cut government spending on electricity by a third

The installation of LED bulbs in street lamps is expected to cut government spending on electricity by one third annually. Savings will total $6 million per year. The board of directors of the Caribbean Development Bank approved $9.5 million in funds for the project.

Saint Lucia’s Energy Minister, Hon. Dr. James Fletcher, stated that the freeing up of government resources will help the country meets its obligations under the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
