Natascha Milesi Ferretti is a Mechanical Engineer at the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology. Natascha was actively involved in the NIST Appliance Program—a congressionally-mandated program conducted for the U.S. Department of Energy. She directed the team of engineers and technicians that developed testing and rating procedures for residential air conditioners, heat pumps, and numerous other residential appliances.
Natascha has had direct involvement in test procedure development and maintenance for dishwashers, clothes dryers, clothes washers, and smart appliances. She has extensive experience conducting laboratory tests and works with both national and international stakeholders and standards-making organizations.
Her current research is focused on building commissioning for improved energy performance. She has worked on several projects in the areas of building commissioning and fault detection and diagnostics, including two International Energy Agency research projects. She is a creator of the HVAC-Cx software to enable both active testing and on-going monitoring of heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment.
She is also a member of the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers and is involved on two technical committees: Smart Building Systems (TC 7.5), and Building Commissioning (TC 7.9).
