El Grupo del Banco Mundial ha organizado este encuentro como un evento de nivel ministerial, y prevemos la presencia de un grupo significativo de funcionarios gubernamentales de alto nivel de toda la región.
The World Bank is launching América Central Eficiente as a means to stimulate dialogue around energy efficiency in Central America, to catalyze investment, and to support the development of national and regional policies and regulations to spur the adoption of energy efficiency.
While Central American countries have made tremendous progress, they face continued challenges, such as regional dependence on energy sources that are vulnerable to international oil prices and climate change, the fiscal impact of energy subsidies, and an obsolete power infrastructure. The high costs of electricity are also undermining the region’s competitiveness, growth, and sustainability.
The World Bank Group is hosting this as a ministerial-level event and we anticipate a substantial contingent of senior government officials from across the region.
