A large group of Brazilian investors and parliamentarians arrived in Saint Lucia on November 11th for a Mission to explore direct and joint investment opportunities in over 11 areas. The Mission, titled “Um Porto de Opportunidades” (A Port of Opportunities), is a cooperative effort between the Brazilian Embassy, Saint Lucia Government, Invest Saint Lucia (ISL) and the OECS.

The program will give investors and parliamentarians alike the chance to discuss the areas of alternative energy, tourism, pharmaceuticals and construction; and also investments into rainwater collection and desalination, food distribution, and language consultancies. Ambassador of the Brazilian Federal Republic to Saint Lucia Sergio Courti is confident that this Mission will “open the way for visiting entrepreneurs and parliamentarians from Brazil to meet their local counterparts [and] do what’s needed to do [for] business.” He continued that the mission will be particularly interested in “investment and service exports between Brazil and Saint Lucia.” A November 14 seminar on “How to do Business with Saint Lucia” included presentations by the Government, ISL, and OECS.
