Caribbean Development Bank Approves Loan for Anguilla Solar

In pursuit of a targeted 30% renewable energy by 2030, the Government of Anguilla borrowed $2.3 million USD to fund the installation of 1 MW of solar. This project will allow the Anguilla Electricity Company Limited (ANGLEC) to monitor the impact of the introduction of intermittent renewables into the energy matrix. The loan was provided by the Caribbean Development Bank, whose current acting Director of Projects, Andrew Dupigny believes that, “the installation of the solar photovoltaic plant will help reduce the nation’s reliance on imported petroleum fuel for its energy requirements.”
