Bermuda: Request for Information for the Supply of Public Buses

The Government of Bermuda has issued a Request for Information for the supply of public buses.

This Request for Information “aims to gauge the interest from vendors and manufacturers” to supply low-emissions diesel, hybrid and/or electric buses to the Department of Public Transportation (DPT) of Bermuda, reads the news release.

This project is the result of an investigation by the Government of Bermuda and Rocky Mountain Institute. The Memorandum of Understanding between the two aimed to explore and further the transition of Bermuda’s public bus network to rely on more energy-efficient and low-emissions technology.

Currently, 65% of the existing bus fleet is over 10 years old and has exceeded its intended service life. This project could therefore offer an important opportunity to modernise an essential component of Bermuda’s public transport network. The new bus system would “improve local air quality, cost, and the quality of DPT’s service”.
