Jamaican Minister of Local Government and Community Development, Hon. Desmond McKenzie, reported that a number of local and international companies have expressed interest in constructing waste-to-energy plants on the island.
Proposals were submitted in response to an announcement made in March by Hon. Andrew Holness, in which he said that Jamaica will seek to implement comprehensive waste management programs at the Riverton City disposal site.
