Jamaica government cuts energy use by 10 GW

Wayne Williams, head of Jamaica’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program said that programs implemented across all ministries, department and agencies has saved the government $100 million over the last two and a half years.

According to Williams, electricity usage has decreased by 10 gigawatt hours across these branches. The installation of solar films on windows, cool roof applications and energy retrofits and upgrades have all played a roll in cutting energy usage and costs.
