10 MW solar plant completed in El Salvador

AES, the Salvadorian subsidiary of the American electric company AES Corporation, has announced the connection of a 10 MW solar plant, La Unión, to El Salvador’s electric grid. This represents the first of three stages of the Bósforo project which aims to connect 100 MW of solar power to the country’s national grid.

La Unión solar park had an investment of US $10m, 44,000 solar panels,  and is expected to reduce 17,500 tons of CO2 annually.
